Midgar Festival Today!

Midgar
The entire city of Midgar will be a party for three days straight.
The Midgar Festival, proposed by President Rufus to increase the loyalty and morale of the people, is a celebration to commemerate the grand city and its people. There will be singing, dancing, carnival games, and many other things to do in each of the Sectors on the plate.
The highlight of the first day will be the opening of the Davelos-funded Diamond Square, which will happen at 5:00 P.M. The President will make a speech that will be projected from the gigantic screen put up on the side of the Shinra HQ.
Highlights of the show include new-found youth superstar Korrine Fox, the Amusement Part in Sector Six, the SOLIDER show of strength in Sector One, Shinra's Technology Carnival in Sector Four, and the Motorcycle Raceway on Sector Five's highways.
If you live in Midgar, you won't be able to miss it.

AVALANCHE Leader Barret Wallace Killed!

The leader of AVALANCHE, Barret Wallace, was killed today in the Execution of Wedge Roberts.
During the execution, AVALANCHE managed to break inside and cause a small riot. During the confusion, the rest of the members ran toward the field to try to rescue captured friend Wedge. However, shots from above rang out and it drove the crowd into an insane tumult.
One hundred of the twenty-thousand present were killed from stray bullets of from being trampled by the mob. Over seven thousand were injured, mainly with broken bones, serious bruises, or concussions. Because of the security hazard, Shinra Inc. ordered the doors to be sealed, thus increasing the panic of the crowd.
Barret Wallace was shot by Vicks after Vicks mauled five children beside the leader. He died approxamately an hour later. The blow is considered serious to the AVALANCHE efforts and it is unknown how the rebel group will recover from this serious loss.

Black 36 Contained to One Sector!

The scourge of Black 36, created by the Shinra Empire, has been stopped by AVALANCHE.
Instead of spreading to eliminate the entire populace of the slums, AVALANCHE managed to shut off the fans, keeping the gas relatively contained in Sector Five.
Although the Death Toll is upwards of five thousand, many take relief at the fact that it is not four million as it was estimated.
It is unknown at how long the Sector Five slums will be contaiminated for. Shinra has started cleanup of the disaster and will report when everything is safe for the return of the people.

Fire of the Sector 1 Theatre

The Famous Midgar Theatre Company building, built in Sector Eight (but often referred to as the Sector 1 Theatre) has been burned down.
Shinra blames Aeris Gainsborough, who was present at the theatre in the afternoon, for the arson, but other sources inform the Tales of Midgar Current Events Network that it was in fact, a disgrunted Homeless man who wanted to make money off of Shinra's bounty.
The hero of the day was the Head of SOLDIER, Tyr Signus, who helped rescue over five people from the blast. With the help of an unknown stranger, they managed to divert water from a nearby sewer pipe to assist the firefighters in putting out the blaze.
Tyr Signus is in the hospital with critical burns, but he is only one of the six-hundred people who were hurt as a result of the accident. There are a known two-hundred and sixty two people dead from the fire.

Rufus Places a Bounty of the Heads of AVALANCHE.

Today, President Rufus announced that AVALANCHE had in fact, broken into Shinra HQ and has stolen a sample of the deadly experimental gas, Black 36. It was reported the Hojo was in alliance with AVALANCHE, and he had provided them with the access.
In addition to the declaration about Black 36, Rufus has also announced that a 10 000 gil reward will be offered for information that leads to their arrest, or 50 000 gil for any of them dead.
This announcement is sure to dig up bounty hunters from hiding in pursuit of these rebels. The rebels sought by Shirna, in no particular order, are:

AVALANCHE Retaliates!

The tables turned on Shinra today when a sneak attack by AVALANCHE sympathizers occured frm both inside and outside of the building.
Synth Blazefire, Lauren Firestone, Jairen Quicksilver, Aeris Gainsborough, Darman Draghon, Zep (true name unknown), a little girl, and a man with a chocobo were reported to have charged the Shinra checkpoint and are now at large within the building.
That, coupled with an explosion of 240 grams of the explosive C4, knocked a shiver through Shinra's bones.
The jailbreak was short-lived as AVALANCHE was quickly confined within the detention block level, but not everything was going well in confining the others. Reno, a well-known Turk, was killed in combat, and Lars, another Turk, was severely injured.
President Rufus was evacuated to Junon for safety reasons. New weapons are being implemented by Scarlet, head of Shinra Weapons Development, and Shinra hopes that these new devices will help Shinra's battle for the Headquarters.

Full-Scale Attack on Shinra HQ Failed!

A surprise attack was launched on the Shinra HQ moments after Tyr Signus made his Live Broadcast. It appeared that AVALANCHE wanted to catch Shinra off-guard, but Tyr Signus had predicted their plan of action, and set extra reinforcements inside the headquarters.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to stop AVALANCHE before they reached the sixty-ninth floor. Once they broke into the labs, they were immediately apprehended. There is an estimated $200 000 gil in damage inflicted upon the headquarters.
AVALANCHE is now in custody, along with a young girl who was arrested for trespassing. Their demise will be discussed tomorrow by a panel. The members of AVALANCHE that are free are Amos Donovan, Tifa Lockheart, and Rio Yokaze. There is a reward being offered by Shinra Inc. for their arrest.

SOLDIER foils AVALANCHE Bombing Run!

Tyr Signus is being hailed as a hero after preventing AVALANCHE from successfuly bombing Reactor No. 3 today. SOLDIER first intercepted AVALANCHE before it could get inside to plant the bomb, and after that, Tyr personally chased AVALANCHE into an alley where he managed to take one of them prisoner.
It is unknown how AVALANCHE will recuperate from this blow to their team, but they have already successfully destroyed two reactors. Hopefully, the grip that Shinra has on them so far will not release enough to let the terrorist group launch a fourth attack on the Mako Reactors.

Tough Laws to Combat Crime

A new law instituted by President Rufus has been met with a lot of discussion.
The new president, hours upon his arrival, has asked that an 8:00 P.M. curfew be placed on Midgar. Anyone found out later than 8:00 P.M. is authorized to be shot.
Although some say that this is the right way to combat crime, it has not been proven that a curfew this early is the way to do it. Some believe that the curfew is too limiting and that it should be changed. Others say that a curfew like this isn't going to stop the crime lords in the slum anyhow, and instead will increase fighting and crime as people attempt to arm themselves against the Midgar Security Force. As it stands, the law is in effect and the President has no decision to change it.

Hurray to President Rufus!

President Rufus arrived today, promoted after the tragedy of his father's death. He was escorted by numerous Shinra troops to avoid the catastrophe that befell his father.
When asked what changes he would make to the multi-million dollar corporation, Rufus simply shrugged and turned his head away.
Despite much controversy over Rufus' past, many of the people believe that it is time for a change. Many say that Rufus has the guts to directly confront AVALANCHE with military force, instead of playing around as did President Shinra. Unfortunately, others say that Rufus will bring in a reign of terror over the people, which will be bad for Shinra's reputation. AVALANCHE has gained in power, and if President Rufus is not careful, many AVALANCHE sympathizers may arise from his mistakes.

President Shinra Found Dead Today!

President Shinra was discovered dead in his sixtieth-story office.
The cause of death is unknown, but due to the mutilation of the body, it is suspected that foul play was involved.
Currently, authorities are reasoning that Jenova, an escaped specimen of the Shinra Labs, has killed the President. It is warned that Jenova's current whereabouts are unknown. The specimen, which is tall and dark green in colour, is very dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstances. One must call the authorities at the instant of spotting this creature.

Heidegger Fired!

Due to Heidegger's lack of performance, the Head of Public Safety and Peace Preservation was fired from his job. The large number of AVALANCHE bombings and the increased jailbreaks were what triggered the President to fire one of his most important men.
To replace him is former General and Master Chief Raith Cantorek. General Cantorek is expected to run things with a stricter hand. This will hopefully garuntee more safety to the people from the fugitives out there. Already, Cantorek has increased security in the Shinra HQ in order to prevent any further infiltration of the headquarters.

Jailbreak Tarnishes Shinra's Reputation

A dramatic jailbreak has caused Shinra to lose much face today.
A mysterious man who resembled Sephiroth was said to have broken into the jails to free Tifa and Marlene from their cells. He killed approximately fifteen soldiers and three scientists on his way inside of the building.
The lack of security of the Shinra building has been a problem. Currently, the authorities are seeking all three people in order to keep the peace in Midgar.

AVALANCHE Base Discovered!

Sector 7 slums: Seventh Heaven
The good work of First-Class SOLDIER Tyr Signus has potentially saved thousands of lives.
This evening, the secret base of the terrorist group AVALANCHE was discovered in Sector 7. Tifa Lockheart and Marlene Wallace were found hiding important information and components under the innocent-looking bar, Seventh Heaven.
The two members are currently under detainment and are scheduled for execution tomorrow at noon. This discovery may destroy AVALANCHE forever and cease any further operations.

Bombing of Mako Reactor No. 5 Devastates Millions

The bombing scorge by AVALANCHE goes unstopped today.
The second reactor in two days has been destroyed by the elusive AVALANCHE team. Just yesterday at noon, the Mako Reactor No. 1 was destroyed in a horrible explosion.
The blast was mainly delfected upward, managing to cause a lot less destruction than the initial No. 1 blast caused. Nonetheless, over one thousand people died and over seventy thousand had their homes destroyed. In total, there are over two million homes that are without power due to the bombings of the two reactors.

Surprise Bombing by AVALANCHE Destroys Reactor No. 1

In a horrible explosion that killed thousands of people, the Mako Reactor No. 1 went up in flames and smoke as it exploded at fourteen minutes past noon.
The damage caused was devastating, effectively eliminating everything within a one-kilometre radius of the power plant. The shockwaves further damanged windows, walls, and high structures for another five kilometres.
The death rate is up at fifty thousand, with about five times that many injuries. About one hundred thousand homes were destroyed, and a further million are without power. The Midgar Theatre is being offered as temporary shelter for people in need.
It is believed that the renegade group AVALANCHE is responsible for the bombing. SOLDIER troops are already on dispatch to find the perpetrators. Although it is unsure of who is involved, there is a man that was spotted over the train bridge. He has blone spikey hair, and appears to be a member of SOLDIER. Do not be fooled. This man is very dangerous.
Rewards are being offered for information leading to the arrest of AVALANCHE members.
