Tales of Midgar Persona Sheet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ --- Player Information Name (or alias): Anastasius Dumar E-mail Address: scarletsand a netscape.net Age: 16 Sex: Male ICQ/AIM/Yahoo Pager! (etc): n/a --- Character Information --- -Name: Kurushimi. -Age: Undetermined, appears as though he is no older than seventeen. -Race: Special. -Birthday: n\a -Sex: n\a (Masculine features) -Height: 5'2" -Weight: 98 lbs. -Hair (color and style): Very fine, very limp honey coloured hair with red tinting at the ends. He wears it short, perhaps two centimeters long, and uncombed, though it sits placidly upon his head. -Eyes: A pale yellow, dark orange around the irises. They glow as though he had been exposed to Mako. -Complexion: Fair. In the sunlight, highlighted areas of his skin gain a deep yellow colour, which gives his skin a slightly waxy, sickly appearance. -Voice: An impossibly deep bass, which seems to deep for any human, much less his apparent age and size. It tends to resonate, and sounds as though it were issuing from the ground beneath him rather than from his mouth. To avoid suspicion, however, he usually raises it an octave or two. -Build: Very slender, thin almost to the point of emaciation. It does not appear as if he as an ounce of muscle present on his body. -Facial Features: Very young. He looks as though he can be no older than his middle-to-late teens, though his eyes are sunken and wrinkled, and he has fine lines around his mouth. He has gently slanted eyes, long, thin eyebrows and a slightly hooked nose which give him a hawkish look. -Identifying Marks: A nine pointed, yellow-orange star shaped mark at the base of his neck. His tunic usually conceals it. -Dress/Clothing/Jewelry: Old, tattered, burlap-type pants held up with hemp rope and a sleeveless, filthy tunic are the only clothes he posesses, though he never seems uncomfortable in them. -General Appearance: Very calm, very serene. A slight, comforting smile rarely leaves his lips, and he never seems to be in any sort of hury. ~~ -Personality: Kurushimi is a kind, gentle, and loving individual, who will never turn his back on anyone who seeks help, guidance, or a patient, non-judgemental ear. He offers unconditional support and understanding to anyone who would confess to him, and is very empathetic. He always seems to be in a serene, blissful state, though at times he can seem melencholy and extremely sorrowful. He will never raise a hand in anger, no matter what the provocation is, and rarely raises his deep, unearthly voice. A pacifist, he truely believes that no good can ever come from any sort of violence, be it physical, mental or emotional, and will go to any means to spare another such pain. This can, at times, make him seem something of a coward, as he will willingly lie, avoid questions, and even magically induce sleep to avoid having to harm anyone in any sort of way, though this often makes matters worse in the long run. In battle one will never find a more frustrating ally, as Kurushimi staunchly refuses to so much as lift a finger if it may harm someone, no matter what they have done ("The greatest wound you can inflict upon an enemy is to show them that you are greater than them -that you will not sink to their means to gain the upper hand" is a phrase that he religiously believes in). This is slightly ironic in a way that, if he did not cling to his ideals so tightly, he could, with his awesome physical and magical strength unmatched by virtually any mortal, be nearly unstoppable. He fears ever having any sort of responsibility directly placed upon him, as his decisions could very well, in some small way, lead to the unwitting suffering of another. If forced into a situation where he can not avoid physically harming someone (mainly in a melee situation), he will first seek to flee or escape by any means possible (possibly leaving comrades behind), and if this fails, than he is perfectly willing to drop into a dead faint (think of Alfred from Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman's Death Gate Cycle novels.) rather then use his incredible strength to harm someone. If dear friends that he cares very deeply about should be in trouble, and fleeing simply cannot be considered an option, he attempts always to subdue the enemy with the least amount of destruction possible (ie. instead of nuking them all with an Ultima-like attack, he will always attempt to try and say, put them to sleep, paralyze them, or even cast "Stop" on them.). Physical harm is considered to be such a last resort that it is likely he would never even consider it in time to make use of it effectively, and death to any living thing simply would not _ever_ be considered (I cannot stress enough how great a part this single aspect plays in his personality.). ~~ -Occupation: Tending to the church in the slums, missionary-type work. -Secondary Skills: Speech. A self-trained master of words, his deep, resonating voice can carry over the loudest of crowds, and he uses it's volume to speak soothing words. He can, given time and enough attention, influence the mass conciousness that seems to evolve in situations where many people are gathered for a single cause. He is known to have used this skill several times when large groups of people in the slums threatened to loose control and become violent. He was able to calm the crowd and help them ignore the trouble makers, avoiding what could have been several relatively large riots. He is also able, to some degree, to sew. -Extra abilities: Kurushimi is immune to all status-ailments (paralyze, poison, petrify, etc.), and does not need to sleep. He can eat almost anything organic (rotting meat and vegetables, etc.) and drink even the most putrid water. -Hobbies: Tending to the flowers in the church, helping others. -Affiliation/Organization: None, though if the condition of the world continues to deteriorate beyond control, he plans (albeit reluctantly) to make an effort to join AVALANCHE, as they seem to have the best chance of saving the world. -Reputation with various groups: He is unknown to everyone but the people who live in the slums around the sector seven church. Here, he is greatly liked and respected by most of the people, as he is always willing to do anything he can to help. ~~ -Background: Kurushimi was created as the first Weapon of the Planet. Among his "brothers", he could be called Topaz Weapon (hence the prominent yellow\orange tint to all his physical features). He acts as the eyes and ears of the planet, wandering among the people, seeing their actions and listening to their words. He was created when Jenova first impacted with Earth (as dictated by Sephiroth's Super Nova), and is the first and weakest of the six Weapons. He first wandered among the Cetra as they were poisoned by Jenoba then by its lethal mutating virus, helping those who were infected or otherwise injured, attempting at the same time to determine what circumstances led to the arrival of Jenova. When he failed (miserably), the other Weapons were created, though by that time the Cetra had imprisoned Jenova in the stratum (he assisted with the incredably powerful spells that were used to do this). When Jenova was imprisoned in the Planet, Topaz Weapon was, like his brothers, put into a dormant state. He awoke from this "sleep" at the time when Mako first began to be used, and the Lifestream felt it's first tremor of abuse. He journied to all the reactors under construction(even the underwater one), in the mission of reporting to the Planet. He then travelled to Midgar, where he joined Shin-Ra as an escort guard. His inhuman strength made him a prefered candidate to escort Sephiroth and Zack to Nibelheim five years ago, and he was the guard that did not rejoin the others when the bridge on Mt. Nibel collapsed. He watched, silent and unseen, as Sephiroth discovered his origins, and escaped with Jenova's head (I think that's right). He was content to be listed MIA (Missing In Action), and returned to Midgar where the instabilities in the Lifestream were the greatest. Non-violent in mind and body, he began to preach his message in the slums, taking residence in the church where the flowers grew. Aeris, often visiting the church, listened often to what he spoke of, finding it to be similar to what she felt. When she told him that she sometimes heard voices, he became intrigued, as he believed that the Ancients should have died with Iflana. He tends the flowers, now, with Aeris' help, and lives in the rafters in the storage room in the church, though he does not need to sleep. Though he detested what AVALANCHE had done when the group bombed the No.1 reactor (which killed so many people he could not stop weeping for days), he is currently worried about the lack of opposition that Shin-Ra faces and the dangerous sequence of events that seems to be taking place around Sephiroth. If circumstances continue to deteriorate, then he feels that it might be best to seek to associate with AVALANCHE, as they seem to be the only ones with a chance to change things. ~~ -Mother: n/a -Father: n/a -Siblings: None (though the other Weapons could be considered siblings.) -Mate: None. -Children: None. Being a Weapon, Kurushimi is in fact genderless, and unable to reproduce, though he has distinctly masculine features. -Pets: None. -Birthplace: n/a ~~ -Weapons: None. Kurushimi refuses to willingly partake in any form of violence, and will not bring himself to touch anything that could harm another. However, he is incredably strong (strong enough, say, to easily lift a small car off the ground). -Armour: None. Kurushimi refuses to wear any sort of protective clothing, as that reflects a basic distrust of the good in people. However, being a Weapon, he posesses strong resistance to most forms of both physical and magical attacks. -Materia: None. Being a Weapon, Kurushimi has incredable magical strength, and will not touch materia, which (99% of it) is artificially manufactured. In fact, as materia is concentrated Mako, which is, in turn, processed Lifestream, Kurushimi becomes ill to the point of severe vertigo if any sort of higher level magic materia (lv. 3 and greater) is brough within ten feet of him (This is caused because the refinement of Lifestream draws out the life energy for use in Mako, and leaves behind the waste product: materia. This waste product is actually quite toxic to Kurushimi, as it saps his strength as it attempts to draw life energy from his indirect link to the Lifestream to replenish itself. Note that this only occurs in manufactured materia, thus, natural materia such as "Shield", "Ultima" and "Fullcure" do not affect him, nor do "Summon" or other natural materia.). This eliminates his superior strength and magic, and fatigues him greatly until the materia is taken away, at which point his unnatural strength is all but lost for the next twenty four hours (kinda like Superman and Kryptonite, I guess.), though is magic abilities return within minutes. Kurushimi, despite the weakness that manufactured materia afflicts upon him, has incredably strong magical powers. Although he can use magic without the aid of materia, Kurushimi is still limited by the need for a catalyst in which to draw his magical strength from. This catalyst takes the form of a small, finger sized shard of topaz embedded in the middle of his chest, much as the other weapons appear to have some sort of gem or stone on their person. Drawing power from the sun, the crystal transforms solar energy into a form similar to Mako energy, which Kurushimi uses as the basis of his spells. The saphire also acts as a battery, storing enough energy to cast a third level (ie. Fire 3), two second level, or three first level spells. In lightless situations such as complete darkness or, as is the current case, in the slums of Midgar, where no solar energy can reach him, Kurushimi cannot draw the strength to shape any sort of spell, unless he resorts to using his stored energy. At night or in situations with thick cloud cover, Kurushimi's powers max out at about sixty percent of his true ability. His tunic that covers the crystal also accomplishes this effect. However, coming in contact or even near any source of pure Lifestream, even if he is in a lightless enviroment, gives Kurushimi a compliment of his full powers, as being a Weapon allows him to directly tap the energy contained in the Lifestream, though this tends to be a rare occurance, as such places tend to be impractical to use. ~~ -Other notes: I believe "Kurushimi" is the Japanese word for "sufferings" (ie. The sufferings that one must endure to reach a goal.), tell me if I'm wrong.
