Also, I own a "show" wakazashi. My webpage: http://members.home.net/prophet-iv/index.html -- Character information Name: Khai Mystra Age: 26 Race: Junonite Birthday: October 16th Sex: Male Height: 5'7" Weight: 150 lbs. Hair (colour and style): Dark brown, cropped short (kind of like George Clooney's hair from ER) Eyes: Brown (but strangely turn to a dark blue when angered) Complexion: Fair Voice: Quiet, yet almost menacing Build: Semi-athletic Facial Features: Goatee Identifying Marks: Scar on right forearm, simple tattoo on upper left arm with letters "R.T." Dress/Clothing/Jewelry: Khai dresses in a navy blueshort-sleeved shirt, black pants, and a grey spring jacket. The jacket is adorned with two vertical blue lines (each 1 cm in width/full length of jacket) appearing on the back of the jacket, starting at each shoulder. Jewelry consists of a gold, celtic-type designed wedding band on ring finger of left hand. General appearance: Looking at Khai, one would assume he is just another face in the crowd, a sheep in the fold of cityfolk. He keeps his tongue in check, regardless of his opinionated nature about the world. Only due to his previous work as a weapons store owner is he generally known by the inhabitants of Junon... especially the military. However, people have noticed that since the disappearance of Sara, Khai has become less interested in the going-ons of Junon. To them, he seems to be continuously focused on just doing his job as a janitor. -- Personality: Asmittedly, Khai is a perfect example of internal chaos. Wrestling with the deaths of his mother and brother, as well as the abandonment of his father, Khai has chosen to turn these thoughts into an effort to help others, especially the "young 'uns". He abhors the thought of children being hurt, and aside from general discipline, is quick to oppose any unnecessary force used against them. Khai is ALWAYS friendly around children, constantly solving arguments, teaching respect for others, as well as respect for nature. Loyal to Sara's memory, Khai has shown no interest in starting any new relationships, leaving him almost in a state of cold-heartedness to any pursuants of this type. -- Occupation: Janitor. Former weapons shop owner. Secondary Skills: Aside from knowledge in the use of basic weaponry (small firearms), the general cost of weaponry, and use of the wakazashi, Khai has no other definitive skills of note. Extra abilities: Guitar playing, poetry writing. Hobbies: After working six days per week, Khai feels the need to go off on his own into the wild, preferring the solitude of nature. He can sometimes be found sitting next to streams, guitar in hand, attempting to play classical pieces. Affiliation/Organization: While not affiliated with any specific group or organization, Khai keeps abreast of any new developments due to his contacts within the wepaons design community. Also, he tends to "overhear" a few things while completing his janitorial duties. Reputation with various groups: While on good terms with the merchants guild of Junon, Khai is misunderstood by the military. Due to his contacts with weapons dealers and design engineers, most high ranking military officers have a tendency to regard him cautiously, but without malice. As well, Khai suspects that Shinra may have been involved in Sara's disappearance. Because he has no proof, he has voiced this suspicion to no one. -- Bacground: Born in Kalm, Khai and his parents moved to Junon when Khai was only 3 years old. His father (Stefane) saw opportunity in opening a weapons shop and fully devoted his time to it. Relying on his mother's wisdom for virtually everything because of his father's busy schedule, Khai learned the value of life and harmony with with the planet. Somehow, his "harmonious nature" was not appreciated by his peers, and he was routinely "odd-man out" in most social functions. Due to this, his only "true Human friend" was Sara Kynor (an innkeeper's daughter), two years his junior. Tomas was born two days before Khai's 10th birthday. Rather than feeling jealous over his brother's birth overshadowing his "special day", Khai fully immersed himself in helping his mother tend Tomas. Sadly, Brynne Mystra passed on two years later due to an unchecked heart condition. Khai, tremendously upset about her death, devoted his time to raising Tomas the same way he was raised, instead of grieving in a natural way. Rather than spending more time with his children, Stefane instead spent more time at the shop, rarely even coming home to sleep. Luckily, Sara and her parents were an everflowing pool of knowledge and instruction in advising Khai with his attempted parenting skills. During the next few years, Sara learns how to play guitar, and in tuen, teaches Khai the basics. Stefane, after years of neglecting his boys, decided that he had to atone for his absence. His days of handling the affairs of the shop, coupled with his night of hard drinking, had inflicted their damage upon his physical and emotional states of health. In an effort to slowly get involved again in the boys' lives, Stefane decided to teach them the only thing he knew thoroughly... the value of weapons and how to use them. Khai reluctantly agreed to his father's attempts to rebuild the relationship, if only to return the harmony of a family for Tomas' sake. Over several months, Stefane was able to train Khai in the basics of swordmanship. Tomas learned quickly about the monetary aspect of weaponry, but preferred not to learn self-defence. Work pressures hit hard again for Stefane, and he returned to the bottle. Exactly twom months before Tomas' 7th birthday, tragedy struck again in the Mystra family. Stefane, after downing a bottle of liqour, began to clean his weapons. Tomas, eager to help and please his older brother, donned adult-sized Aurora armor and helped his brother train in self-defence. As the minutes ticked by, Stefane paused his cleaning task to watch Khai's movements, looking for an opportunity to point out any faults. He got his wish. Khai dropped his wakazashi after tripping on an untied shoelace. Stefane sauntered over to the boys' position and chastised the soon-to-be 17 year ol on his clumsiness, all the while picking up the fallen sword. Waving it as a teacher would a chalkboard pointer, Stefane accidentally struck Tomas in the throat, fatally wounding him. As well, Khai received the scar mentioned in "Identifying Marks". Khai could only watch in horror as Tomas' lifesource pooled around his convulsing body. Sara and Khai become closer than ever after Tomas' death, each feeling the loss of such a gentle soul. Six months after his drunken actions, Stefane left Junon, leaving the upkeep of the store fully in Khai's hands. Hiring Sara as a store clerk, he was able to maintain the store's good business. Years passed, and the realtionship between the two intensifies. Fruing the summer of Khai's 20th year, he and Sara marry with the full blessing of her parents, Darren and Laura. One year went by, and Fate, eager to keep things interesting, provided yet another stroke of bad luck to Khai. Simply put, Sara just vanished one night. No note, no trace of her whereabouts, no witnesses. Khai searched for clues over the years, but was hard-pressed to find anything useful. During his 23rd year on the planet, he sold the store, opting for a career in janitorial studies, if only to gain more information involving Sara's disappearance. Losing the money generated by the store didn't bother him; Sara's location was the important matter. During this time, Rufus appeared in Junon, and Khai silently watched the damage taken on the city as Rufus imposes strict regulations on the townspeople. All in all, Khai believes that if he is to get Rufus out of Junon to restore harmony and continue his search for Sara, he must find a way for Rufus to return to his previous position as president in Midgar. As well, Khai has taken a vow to never let a child be harmed, regardless of the cost to his own well-being. Because of this, he has taken to wearing special apparel while defending or avenging a child, donning a black jacket, as well as a black mask (identical in style to Grifter's first mask from the comic WildC.A.T.S. by Jim Lee). Three years in the making, Khai must ultimately decide whether or not to travel to Midgar to finalize his plans and attempt to overthrow the current president. Knowing full well that such a feat would be almost impossible, he realizes that he would have to associate with the president's opposition, thereby involving him more with political agaendas... something he has no interest in above his own. -- Mother: Brynne. Deceased. Father: Stefane (48). Wherabouts unknown (which is preferred by Khai). Siblings: Tomas. Deceased. Mate: Sara Kynor (pronounced Kee-nor) (24). Missing for 5 years. Children: None. Pets: He tries to co-exist with nature, not tame it. Birthplace: Kalm. -- Weapons: Wakazashi. Khai trained himself to master the weapon which slew his younger brother. (2) 9mm pistols (similar to Beretta 9mm semi-automatics). Armour: None. Does not believe that armor provides adequate protection. Materia: Surprisingly, none. Even with his harmonious nature with the planet, Khai believes he is not worthy yet of using materia without the planet's consent. Subsequently, most people who own materia are held in awe until how the materia was obtained is revealed. His reaction may waiver from compliance to utter disgust upon gaining this information, depending on who the person is. -- Other notes: Although Khai's involvement with weapon selling contradicted his respect for the planet (ie. Mako-using weapons), he realized that he needed to continue with the weapons store until he could afford to keep himself "afloat".
